Featured Tune
Goldeneye 007 - Dam

Goldeneye 007 for the Nintendo 64 was an extraordinary stealth FPS. The tune from the Dam stage is packed with thrilling action and is a perfect sample of what the whole soundtrack sounds like.

Updates
Alex Mauer's site has finally been updated and we've corrected the information on Chiptune EP 2 Page.
Naruto has decided to change his name and the old site is down at the moment. All links from this site to his old site has been removed. We really hope Naruto-kun will be back soon with a new name and more lovely chiptunes.
The guys over at Polish Atari XL/XE Scene are recommending Infinite Game Music to their readers. "They are really the maniacs of the chipmusic" they say, hehe. Thanks! As you all know we've featured X-Ray and Greg Kwiatek in our compilations, two of our absolute favorite modern composers.

Infinite Game Music Vol.5 Scheduled
The new Vol.5 has been scheduled to Wednesday May 24th. We're very excited about this release as we've managed to summon a couple of true chiptune legends. Also, we've been working with an external artist for the paper covers. Vol.5 will be darker than previous compilations and will feature music from games like Castlevania, Actraiser and Streets of Rage. Subscribers of the newsletter can read more about Vol.5 in issue #7.

Artists on Infinite Game Music
One of the artists previously featured on Infinite Game Music wrote us and wasn't really glad about being featured without being informed. We apologize for this but the thing is some of the artists are hard to reach. Sometimes their web site is down, no proper email address is found, etc.
We'll try harder to inform the artists when we intend to feature their songs. Please note that the whole purpose of Infinite Game Music is to give composers the coverage they deserve. There's so much good chiptune music out there and more people should be enjoying it.
One last thing: Game Music Vol.5 will be out in a couple of weeks so stay tuned!

New Chiptune EP
I hope you're enjoying Vol.4. I listened to the Quake Theme yesterday and it triggered an enormous whish to play Quake. You should play it if you haven't done it in a while; it's a cool game even these days. There are ports you can run on Windows XP if you have the original CD.
A new chiptune EP is in the pipeline and will be released this month! It will feature music from another four composers so don't miss it.
Issue #4 of the newsletter should be out this week for subscribers. We'll be talking a little more about the new EP and when you can expect to get your hands on it.

Battle Of The Bits
Battle Of The Bits recently arranged a chiptune competition where NES and C64 tunes are competing side by side (along with mod tunes). The deadline is today so we'll soon be able to vote. All tracks are rendered to mp3 format so it's easy for anyone to visit and listen. There are plenty of good submissions including a tune by the superb RushJet1. Our very own Hastig is also competing with the tune Sweet Thief.

Videogame: The Movie: The Game
This is kind of wierd. A complete soundtrack "ripped" from a gray market game from 1984 along with real instrument covers of each tune. Sadly, it's only an imaginary story and such a game doesn't exist. However, the soundtrack is available for download and that's at least good news. Everything is composed by Jason Cox, and many of the tunes really rock. Check it out! Thanks to herr_professor for the information.
Issue #2 of the newsletter will be out soon. Sign up to get more juicy game music info! :)

Vol.3 Status

We've just finished the tracklist for Infinite Game Music Vol.3. 18 tracks intended to fit together as a whole. This volume will sport some Konami tunes (man, it's hard to exclude them ;)) but also many other tracks from arcade systems and the Atari XL/XE.
It's not always an easy task to mix tunes from different systems and still keep a good pace and flow. For example, going from a heavy Nintendo 64 tune such as Killer Instinct to say Commando on the Commodore 64 could sound really ugly. Still, both tunes are great in their own content.
We've been adding, deleting and reorganizing among 40-60 tracks before getting it right in Vol.3. Hopefully you'll dig it and tell all your friends about it. Or perhaps you'll think we suck big time and tell us to go to hell. Eiher way, email us so we can get better. :)
Respect to all composers that are featured in our compilations. We work hard to get it right, but it's nothing compared to your work. Cheers!

Harddrive crash
We had a harddrive crash last week. It was a bit sad as I'd been remixing a lot of stuff for the new release and everything was lost. A prospect list of 50 tracks for Vol.3 as well as all original material of the old compilations were also lost. Lesson learned: Always backup your stuff...
Well, let's not be that sad about it. Everything CAN and WILL be made again, it will only take a little time. We hope that you are enjoying the past volumes. Please don't hesitate to e-mail us your thoughts, tips on chiptune composers etc!

Merry Christmas
Infinite Game Music Vol.3 has been scheduled for release Monday, January 23th. We'll be making the last tuning this week. Please pay us a visit next Monday and get your copy of Vol.3!
Wow, thanks a lot to everyone that has linked to us. Infinite Game Music is still a small site, but we're starting to get more traffic thanks to you. Cheers! The Chiptune EP has been downloaded a lot and hopefully people are enjoying it. We're preparing new compilations, first out is Vol.3 in Jan/Feb so please keep visiting.
Niclas Svensrud, the author of the awesome Giana Sisters Remix, recently told us that he was honored to be featured in Vol.2. Well, the honor is completely on our side. If you create good stuff you're begging to be exposed ;)
One last thing. Quitasol, a composer featured on VORC and a member of the 2A03 forums, just released Jingle Bells Rock, a very neat NSF christmas tune. Listen to Part 2 here.
Merry Christmas!

Infinite Game Music - The Chiptune EP Released!

Infinite Game Music would like to introduce Grzegorz Kwiatek, Virt, Naruto and Maktone, four modern composers that utilize old hardware to make their music.
To the untrained ear, game music and chiptunes might not sound impressive at all. In fact it might sound like crap. But so does death metal and other genres until you get into it and start to realize that the music is in fact fantastic. The Chiptune EP is an attempt to introduce new listeners to the world of chiptunes. We hope of course that veteran chiptuners will enjoy it as well.
Please step into the Compilations Area to download The Chiptune EP. It's a Christmas gift for everybody. :)

This EP is an attempt to introduce new listeners to the world of chiptunes. We hope of course that veteran chiptuners will enjoy it as well. See you next Friday!

Chiptunes in the media
I've noticed an increasing interest in chiptunes over the past one or two years. I think this is quite cool. Chiptune music is a genre like any other and deserves to be discovered by more people. I do listen to other music as well such as metal, alternative rock and disco music. I think that all music styles, including chiptunes are equally important.
I've found some coverage of chiptune music in the media (thanks to VORC for some of the links below). I'm not really into dancing to chiptune or game music (people dance at clubs in the movie clips), I prefer to just listen to the music on my stereo or headphones. Either way, it's cool that the genre is so versatile. :)
Here are a couple of links:
Swedish tv show Kontroll on SVT - An interview with the drummer of the band SID 80's and more.
French tv show on Arte (at chiptunes.com) - Go to Videos >> Tracks (Arte)
Chiptunes: Nintendo Music Radio Show - At Flat four radio

Contest Winner + Coming EP
And the winner is... BitLord X, from France! Congratulations, you'll have a very rare album in your mailbox next week. Thank you all for downloading Vol.2 and participating in the contest. We'll try to do this again next time, perhaps with better prices to win.
The search for the very best game music tracks and chiptunes continues. Next volume of Infinite Game Music will feature music from systems not yet covered such as the Sega Genesis (Sega Megadrive in Europe) and the Atari XL/XE. Infinite Game Music Vol.3 should hit the "virtual shelfs" early next year in January or early February.
We'll have a smaller release in December. A 4-track EP will be released Monday, December 19th as a little Christmas gift for you chiptune lovers. Stay tuned for more information!

HVSC - The High Voltage SID Collection
If you owned a Commodore 64 when you were a kid and enjoyed the tunes of games like The Last Ninja, Out Run, Commando or International Karate, HVSC is the ultimate archive for you. This massive archive is available for download in one single zip file of about 60 MB. To listen to the tunes you will need a special player as the files are all in the .SID format. Visit the Download section at HVSC to get a player (the Winamp SID-plugin is the one I prefer).
HVSC also features a Top 100 list of the most popular SIDs.
I didn't own a Commodore 64 myself when I was a kid. HVSC is a fantasic opportunity for me to listen to (and review) all those tunes I briefly played at my friends' house. :)

Overclocked ReMix

Swedish Chip Music
There are very good chip musicians here in Sweden. Some of them perform live. Here are some of my favorites.
Covox - Very nice melancholic pop composed with gameboys. Listen specially to "Lacking The Necessary Pose" from his latest album. Check out Covox's discography page for info and tunes.
Maktone - The author of Addiction, one of my absolute favorite sids of all time. Visit Maktone's site and download all of his great stuff.
Slagsmålsklubben - Sometimes featured on swedish radio. Go the SMK discography page to listen to more of their stuff.

Vol.1 Paper Covers
Thank you all for visiting and listening to great game music! Stay tuned as new volumes are on their way.
We believe the best way to enjoy the compilations is to listen to the tracks in the proper order. We've released paper covers of Vol.1 for those of you that put the tracks on cd. You can find the covers on the Compilations section.

Infinite Game Music Vol.1 Released!
At last! We're very excited to anounce the release of Infinite Game Music Vol.1.
We started this project months before the opening of the site. After many hours of listening we've selected 18 tracks from different games on different systems. Many tunes are created by Konami, but also by Capcom, Nintendo and others.
I really hope you enjoy this first compilation as much as we do. Hopefully it'll inspire you to play the games and explore more game music on your own. We'll put up a links page soon so stay tuned for more information.
Just one more thing. It would be neat if the compilation had paper covers. We have some designs, but if you're good at designing stuff please let us know. Maybe we can put them on a special page for others to download. E-email us your thoughts!

Infinite Game Music Vol.1
Our first compilation Infinite Game Music Vol.1 will soon be released and available as mp3 download. Vol.1 will contain 18 tracks from both popular and less popular games. It will also feature a chiptune* not found in a game. Eventually, we will add information for each track.
The purpose of this compilation (as well as the purpose of the whole site) is to expose game and other chip tunes to a wide audience. There are many sites that provides thousands of tracks in their original formats. Here at Infinite Game Music you will find great music chosen by us. We listen to hundreds of tracks from different games and try to select the very best.
Stay tuned!
* A chiptune is a track that sounds like games did on Nintendo, Commode 64 or Atari long ago.
